The organization in charge of the Asian Games, known as the Olympic Council of Asia, initially announced July 15 as the final day for submitting entries to the event's organizers. However, there are reports suggesting that they are now thinking about extending the deadline.

All the wrestlers in the country, including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik, will have sufficient time to prepare for the Asian Games selection trials. Gyan Singh, a member of the ad-hoc committee, shared this information with the news agency PTI. The exact date of the trials will be announced on July 10 and is expected to take place around July 20. The organizers have reportedly received an unofficial confirmation from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) regarding the extension of the deadline to submit player names for the Asian Games. Following this, trials will be conducted to shortlist Indian wrestlers for the Games.

Gyan Singh also mentioned that the ad-hoc committee will explore the option of nominating six wrestlers (Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Satyawart Kadian, Sangeeta Phogat, Jitendra Kinha) as reserves who participated in the protest. The purpose behind this decision is that if any of them win a match against the trial winner in August, they could be added to the Indian team competing in the Asian Games.

The wrestlers who requested additional time for trials will be included as reserves, with a provision to have three male and three female wrestlers in this category. Gyan Singh, a member of the ad-hoc committee, mentioned that they explored the possibility of sending two entries per weight category for the Asian Games, but it was not feasible. Instead, the names of the six wrestlers who sought more time will be placed on the reserve list. The ad-hoc committee will submit a confirmed entry along with the names of these wrestlers.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) initially set July 15 as the deadline for submitting entries to the Asian Games organizers. However, there are reports suggesting that the OCA is considering extending the deadline due to efforts made by the Indian Olympic Association's ad-hoc committee for wrestling. The ad-hoc committee, however, has not received any official communication regarding the extension.

Gyan Singh stated that while no email has been received from the OCA regarding the deadline extension, unofficially they have indicated their readiness to be flexible with the submission date. The exact duration of the extension has yet to be confirmed, and the ad-hoc committee is awaiting official communication to determine if the deadline will be extended by 10, 12, 15, or more days.

The date for the Asian Games trials will be announced on July 10, according to Gyan Singh, a member of the ad-hoc committee. He mentioned that the announcement will be made without much delay, and the trials are expected to take place around July 20. Six wrestlers, including notable athletes like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik, had requested additional time from the Sports Ministry to prepare for the trials specifically for the Asian Games.

These wrestlers explained that their participation in a 38-day protest against the Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, had hindered their practice for the trials. In response, the ad-hoc committee made an exception for these protesting wrestlers, exempting them from the Asian Games and World Championships trials and assigning them to a single event instead.
